Never in my life did I ever think I would be an owner of a small business. I always envisioned myself working with animals and I pretty much did my whole life! I never thought my skills would ever take towards dog grooming. And thus, I came up with, Kay9 Cuts. My dog grooming business officially created in February of 2021. 

Since as young as I can remember, about 7 years old, I knew or strongly believed that I was able to communicate with animals better than most people.

This young, I was well aware that I was an observer. I felt I would visibly study an animal's behavior, observing how they perceive and react to their environment. I would observe interactions between with each other, and their experiences between different emotions. I never thought of using this interest as a career choice, but I did know I wanted to use this sort of skill to help animals in some way.

I entered my freshman year in college as a beef and livestock major, (not knowing what I was even going to do with that) and graduated 4 years later with my Bachelor of Tech in Animal Science. I did four wonderful years working closely with beef and dairy cattle, sheep, goats, pigs, rabbits, dogs and horses.

Although I liveddd for working in the field and in barns, after graduating I went back home to NYC. I had worked in veterinary hospitals from Brooklyn to Queens to Long Island, trying to find the right path for me. I loved what I did but I felt as if something were missing. I never gave up hope. Throughout the pandemic in 2020, I switched over to working at a pet healthcare laboratory. And just as majority of the everyone in the world, this time was mentally and financially challenging.

With everything going on during that difficult time, I knew in my heart that I was still missing something. I realized life was too short to not keep going; to not keep trying.

Dog grooming was always something that was around me, but I never had any interest in this type of work. Well with time, I did my research, got into a grooming academy, worked very hard on my own time perfecting my work and boom. Once I knew it, I was working for myself, learning to incorporate my skills with this new opportunity.

I received tons of support from my previous colleagues, family & friends, and for that, I will forever be truly grateful!

With recommendations to any and all dog owners looking for a groomer with a veterinary background, this was a blessing in disguise. And that is when the magic started!
